Directed visual identity for Chi-League 2023, cementing it as a Chicago Summer staple

Challenge

With Dreamville stepping back, I took on the creative leadership for Chi-League 2023 at Whitney Young High School. The goal was to build on Chi-League’s success and create an unforgettable experience, ensuring it became a true Chicago Summer staple.

Approach

This year’s concept centered around Chicago Summer — a season the city proudly claims as the best in the country. Just like Lollapalooza or Taste of Chicago, Chi-League needed to feel like an unmissable summer tradition. Building on the previous year’s bold visual takeover, we leaned into summer energy and culture. A fresh photo shoot featured young Chicago influencers to connect with a younger audience and build anticipation around Chi-League as the summer event to pull up to.

Execution

Redesigned the venue with bold Wilson branding, creating an immersive atmosphere. We used the photoshoot with young influencers to connect directly with the younger crowd, ensuring Chi-League felt like an event that brought people together. The content was crafted to celebrate Chicago Summer while elevating the basketball culture of the league.
